What is Promotional BULK SMS?

Companies, organizations and brands mostly use promotional bulk SMS or messaging to spread sales and marketing content messages to promote their individual products and services. Bulk SMS material that is specifically promotional includes invitations, discounts, offers, and the latest sales, among many other promotional activities. These days, the majority of businesses notify their clients about fraud control via SMS. The most efficient and affordable approach to advertise any goods or services is through promotional bulk SMS.

It is sent via an alphanumeric sender ID which can contain 6 characters only (which needs DLT platform approval) and is transmitted to NON-DND mobile phones exclusively.

What is Sender id?

A sender ID in bulk SMS is the alphanumeric identifier that appears as the sender on the recipient's phone. It helps recipients identify who the message is from, enhancing trust and brand visibility. Customizable within 6 characters, it cannot include special characters or spaces and does not support replies. Compliance with local regulations is often required. The telecom operator name and the Indian state are defined by the prefixed first two alphabets. For example, AM represents Airtel Maharashtra, JD is for JIO Delhi, and VK refers to Vodafone Karnataka. Examples for your reference of sender id:Ā
VK-239740 / AM-CORWEB

Process of sending SMSes in bulk?

Sending bulk SMS involves using specialized software or services to deliver large volumes of SMS messages to multiple recipients simultaneously. Here's a concise guide on how to do it:

1. Choose a Bulk SMS Service Provider: Select a reputable provider that offers bulk SMS services, such as Taxyaari.

2. Set Up an Account: Sign up and create an account with the chosen provider. This typically involves verifying your identity and possibly registering your sender ID.

3. Import Contact List: Upload or import your list of recipient phone numbers, usually in CSV or Excel format.

4. Compose Your Message: Write your SMS content, ensuring it is concise and within the character limit (usually 160 characters per SMS).

5. Customize Sender ID: Set the sender ID that will appear on recipients' phones, if the service allows.

6. Schedule or Send Immediately: Choose whether to send the SMS immediately or schedule it for a specific date and time.

7. Monitor and Analyze: After sending, use the serviceā€™s analytics tools to track delivery rates, open rates, and any responses if applicable.

These steps help efficiently manage and execute bulk SMS campaigns to reach a large audience effectively.

What is the character limit in 1 SMS?

Unicode (or any other language) SMS is limited to 70 characters, while single (one) promotional English text messages can contain up to 160 characters (including spaces and special characters). Due to the requirement for users data headers (UDHs) technology, each multipart English text SMS is limited to 153 characters rather than 160. Long SMS messages can be linked together on mobile phones using UDH technology, making them appear as a single SMS in the recipient's phone inbox.Ā
